Man who Stabbed Neighbor over P1,500 Nabbed in Cavite

A man who stabbed his neighbor in Rizal last year over a debt of P1,500 was arrested in Cavite yesterday, police said.

The suspect, identified as Juancho Vere, 33, was apprehended by the Quezon City Police District Station 1 in Bacoor City, where he had been hiding and working as a fisherman.

Vere had a warrant of arrest for attempted murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 71 in Antipolo City.

Police said Vere stabbed his neighbor, whose name was withheld, in Rodriguez, Rizal in November 2023 after the latter failed to pay him back P1,500 that he allegedly stole from him.

The victim survived the attack and reported the incident to the authorities.

Vere confessed to the crime and said he was willing to settle the matter amicably but his neighbor refused to pay him.

Vere was set to be turned over to the Rizal police for proper disposition of his case.
