Colorum buses draw complaints in Cavite over ‘cutting trips’

Commuters and netizens in Cavite have filed complaints against allegedly unlicensed buses operating on provincial routes, citing a practice known as “cutting trip” that leaves passengers stranded mid-journey.

In one reported incident, a passenger said he boarded a bus bound for Ternate but was dropped off in the town of Naic after the conductor determined there were too few remaining passengers to continue the route.

The passengers were forced to find alternative transportation to reach their original destinations, resulting in additional expenses and travel delays.

Netizens have called on the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to intensify enforcement against colorum vehicles and operators violating their designated routes.

The public is advised to verify that public utility vehicles they board are duly franchised and to file complaints against operators found committing violations such as cutting trips, overloading, and overcharging.

Authorities recommend documenting incidents with photos, videos, and the vehicle’s plate number before filing a report.
