GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Two men were arrested and a firearm seized in a buy-bust operation carried out by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the General Trias Component City Police Station Thursday night in Barangay San Francisco.
The operation, conducted at around 8:45 p.m. in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P68,000.
Authorities recovered five heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, three P100 buy-bust bills, a coin purse, and a caliber .45 pistol with serial number 6174940 from one of the suspects. A magazine and seven rounds of ammunition for the firearm were also confiscated.
The two suspects now face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police said the investigation was ongoing to determine whether the suspects had accomplices in their illegal operations in the area.
