GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — A 69-year-old farmer was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday night after being shot at a vacant lot in Sitio Tirona, Barangay Santiago, police said.
The General Trias Component City Police Station said the shooting occurred at around 7:15 p.m. near the Amaia Scapes Subdivision. The victim, identified only by the alias “Alexander,” was a resident of the area.
Witnesses told investigators they heard successive gunshots coming from the direction of the victim’s banana farm near the subdivision. A security guard at the subdivision gate later spotted the victim bloodied and calling for help.
Relatives rushed Alexander to General Trias Medicare Hospital for initial treatment before he was transferred to De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmariñas City for further care.
No suspect has been identified. Police said they have requested assistance from the Provincial Forensic Unit to help establish the circumstances of the shooting. The motive remained under investigation.
