SILANG, Cavite — The Philippine National Police Academy has launched a Farm-to-Cadet and Personnel Program aimed at providing cadets and staff with fresher, more affordable agricultural products while boosting income for local farmers, under the leadership of Acting Director PBGen. Redrico A. Maranan.

The program directly links farmers and Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations supported by the Department of Agrarian Reform with the PNPA community, eliminating middlemen in the sale of vegetables, fruits and other produce. This allows cadets and academy personnel to buy fresher, higher-quality items at lower prices, PNPA officials said.

The program also benefits local farmers by giving them a guaranteed market and higher earnings through direct sales, according to the academy.

The Farm-to-Cadet and Personnel Program will be held weekly as part of PNPA’s support for the government’s Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty. It coincides with the observance of the 31st Police Community Relations Month, which aims to strengthen ties between police and communities.

PNPA officials said the program reflects the Bagong Pilipinas administration’s goal of improving farmers’ livelihoods while ensuring the academy community has access to sufficient, fresh and quality food.
