TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Four Taiwanese nationals lost a total of ₱1.2 million after a man posing as a Beyblade supplier allegedly swindled them in a fake sale here, police said.

The Trece Martires Component City Police Station said the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. Thursday in front of Steeltech along Km. 49, Indang Road, in Barangay Inocencio.

Investigators said the four foreign nationals traveled from Manila after arranging a deal with an individual introduced to them by a friend in Taiwan to buy a large quantity of Beyblade battle tops.

Upon arriving, the suspect, identified only by the alias “Adrian,” told the victims the items were stored in a company next to Steeltech. The victims, trusting the suspect, handed over ₱1.2 million in payment.

After receiving the money, the suspect walked toward Steeltech and disappeared, police said. The victims waited for more than an hour, but he never returned and could not be reached.

Authorities said the suspect is believed to be a resident of Las Piñas City, though his true identity and current whereabouts are still being verified.

The Trece Martires police station is investigating the incident to identify and arrest the suspect and recover the victims’ money.

Police reminded the public to verify the legitimacy of a transaction before handing over large sums of money to avoid falling victim to estafa.
