TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Police arrested a 37-year-old parking attendant after he allegedly fired a gun in a residential area and was found carrying an unauthorized firearm in Barangay Luciano, Trece Martires City.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Romnick,” is a resident of Barangay Luciano, Trece Martires City.

According to the Trece Martires Component City Police Station, officers received a report at around 9 p.m. of illegal gunfire along L. Manaig Street in Luciano Phase 2 and immediately proceeded to the barangay hall and the scene to verify the complaint.

Officers spotted the suspect drinking with companions near the area. He was positively identified through information from complainants and by a barangay tanod, leading to his immediate arrest.

Recovered from the suspect’s right waist was a .38-caliber revolver bearing serial number 105647. The cylinder contained five live rounds and one spent casing, which authorities believe was fired during the incident.

Police informed the suspect of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before bringing him to the station for documentation and investigation.

Romnick faces charges of illegal discharge of firearm and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Authorities are preparing the necessary documents for the formal filing of charges.
