The Daang Hari Extension Phase 2, also known as the Punta-Open Canal Diversion Road, is progressing rapidly after nearly a decade of development, with full completion and operation now targeted for 2027.
The project, which spans General Trias and Tanza, had faced years of funding constraints and right-of-way challenges.
Several sections of the diversion road have already been completed and widened, with the alignment now approaching Gov. Ferrer Drive. The remaining unwidened section at the intersection with Arnaldo Highway is set to undergo widening, completing the corridor’s planned six-lane configuration.
The road will provide access to Lancaster New City Zone 2 and Riverpark South, supporting continued residential, commercial and industrial development in the area. It will also serve as a major access corridor to the Cavite BRT Terminal, which is currently under construction.
Once fully operational, the Daang Hari Extension will form an east-west transportation corridor connecting southern Metro Manila with Cavite. Officials expect the improved connection to enhance regional mobility, support economic growth and help ease traffic congestion across the province.
