LIGTONG, Rosario, Cavite — A Facebook live selling session by six college students unexpectedly turned into a spontaneous food giveaway for young parishioners after an overseas Filipino worker watching the stream bought out their entire stock and asked them to distribute it to the youth.
The group — three criminology students and their girlfriends — had been selling snacks and silog meals outside the San Isidro Labrador Parish in Ligtong to help cover their tuition fees when a viewer identified as Clarybhelle Espinila, a content creator based in Spain originally from Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, sent ₱2,000 via GCash and purchased everything on offer.
Espinila instructed the group to give away all the food to the young people who had joined the parish procession, including altar servers and some barangay officials.
The students promptly carried out her request, distributing the meals to the youth following the procession.
Several other viewers from Ilocos also sent donations during the live stream, allowing more recipients to benefit from the giveaway.
The group said they had started the session with the simple goal of earning money for school expenses, but it turned into a meaningful experience of community service.
