Rosario, Cavite distributes fuel subsidies to 1,619 tricycle drivers

ROSARIO, Cavite — The local government of Rosario distributed fuel subsidies to 1,619 tricycle drivers, aimed at easing the financial burden on transport workers amid persistent increases in oil prices.

Mayor Jose Voltaire V. Ricafrente, together with Vice Mayor Bamm Gonzales, led the distribution of the financial assistance, which the local government said would directly support the day-to-day operations of tricycle drivers — a sector heavily affected by volatile fuel costs.

The subsidy is part of a broader program to support transport workers who continue to serve the community despite economic challenges, local officials said.

Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying it would serve as additional capital to sustain their livelihoods.

Tricycle drivers are considered a backbone of local transportation in Rosario, providing the primary mode of travel for residents in areas inaccessible to larger vehicles.

Ricafrente said the local government would continue exploring ways to improve the welfare of workers in the municipality. He described the initiative as a reflection of the administration’s “Just LoVe Rosario” campaign, which he said promotes community solidarity and genuine public service.

Officials said the program represents a concrete step toward inclusive development, ensuring no sector is left behind.
