SEVEN NONAGENARIANS RECEIVE CASH INCENTIVE, RECOGNITION FROM ROSARIO TOWN GOVERNMENT
ROSARIO, Cavite — Seven senior citizens who turned 90 years old received a ₱10,000 cash incentive each from the Rosario town government under Ordinance No. 347, Series of 2021.
The recipients were six women and one man: Amelia of Barangay Bagbag II, Celestino of Barangay Kanluran, Nonita of Barangay Ligtong I, Marina of Barangay Ligtong II, Eleuteria of Barangay Ligtong III, Luzviminda of Barangay Ligtong IV, and Corazon of Barangay Wawa III. Each received ₱10,000 in recognition of reaching age 90.
The ordinance was signed March 1, 2021, by Mayor Jose Voltaire V. Ricafrente and authored by Councilor Michael H. Giongco.
Giongco said Ordinance No. 347 was the first measure in Cavite province to grant a ₱10,000 cash incentive to nonagenarians, or senior citizens between the ages of 90 and 99. The ordinance states its goal is to honor older residents in gratitude for their contributions to their families, communities and the town.
Ricafrente said the town’s senior citizens are pillars of their families and communities, and that their sacrifices, experience and love of country laid the foundation for the town’s development. He said he signed the ordinance wholeheartedly to show the local government’s gratitude and recognition of residents who reach age 90, adding that the cash incentive is not only financial aid but also a symbol of respect for their long and meaningful lives.
Vice Mayor Bamm Gonzales said the incentive reflects the local government’s sincere recognition of elderly residents who have served as pillars of their families and communities. He congratulated the six women and one man for reaching their 90th birthdays, wishing them continued good health and expressing hope that they would inspire future generations. Gonzales said residents can expect the town council to continue pushing ordinances and programs that promote the welfare, dignity and quality of life of senior citizens, adding that their well-being remains one of the council’s main priorities.
The program aligns with the 1987 Philippine Constitution and Republic Act No. 9994, or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, both of which promote the welfare of senior citizens.
Through the ordinance, the Rosario town government continues to show its appreciation for elderly residents who have served as pillars of their families and contributed to community development over the decades.
