Salvo Street Party Kicks Off Week-Long Regada Water Festival 2026 in Cavite City
CAVITE CITY — Thousands of Caviteños and visitors packed the streets for music, dancing, and revelry as the Salvo Street Party officially opened the week-long Regada Water Festival 2026, Mayor Denver Chua announced in a social media post.
The Salvo Street Party served as the launch event for this year’s celebration, with Chua describing the turnout as lively and energetic. He said more activities are lined up in the coming days leading to the festival’s main event.
The highlight of Regada 2026 falls on June 24, when Cavite City holds its signature “basaan,” or street-wide water dousing, along the festival route.
Chua said this year’s lineup of performers includes Sexbomb, Katrina Halili, Vince Maristela, Chanty Videla, and Hannah Precillas.
Regada is a week-long celebration that begins in the second week of June and culminates on the feast day of St. John the Baptist on June 24, the patron saint of Cavite City.
The festival, now in its third decade, was first held in 1996, when then-Mayor Tim Encarnacion transformed local feast traditions into a citywide celebration.
The festival’s name comes from the Spanish word “regar,” meaning to water or sprinkle, and is tied to the rite of baptism associated with St. John the Baptist.
On June 24, water sprinklers and hoses are activated along the festival route, now centered on Padre Burgos Avenue, turning the area into what locals call a “splash zone.”
The water tanks and fire trucks used in the festivities are blessed by a parish priest at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Porta Vaga before the celebrations begin, organizers have said in past years.
Aside from the water dousing, Regada traditionally features a trade fair, street dancing, art exhibits, and other community activities held throughout the week.
Each year, thousands of visitors from Cavite City and nearby towns join the festivities, making it one of the province’s most widely attended cultural events.
City officials are encouraging residents and tourists to mark their calendars for June 24 and to join the remaining activities scheduled throughout Regada Week.
