BACOOR CITY, Cavite — A man identified only by the alias “Raymond” was arrested after he was caught allegedly carrying suspected shabu and cash in Barangay Maliksi 2, Tambak, early Thursday.

According to a report from the Bacoor City Police Station, officers conducting a routine foot patrol under Patrol Bayanihan and Oplan Galugad in a known crime-prone area responded to a complaint about a man allegedly causing a disturbance and acting suspiciously.

Authorities found the suspect walking in a dimly lit part of the area at around 4:30 a.m. June 18. When police approached and identified themselves, the man allegedly fled, prompting a brief foot chase before he was cornered and arrested.

During the chase, officers noticed the suspect discarding a coin purse. A search using a flashlight revealed a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu inside. Police also recovered a marked 100-peso bill.

The seized drugs weighed approximately one gram, with an estimated standard street value of 6,800 pesos.

The suspect was informed of his rights under the Miranda doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law. An inventory of the seized items was conducted in the presence of a barangay official and the suspect before he was brought to the Bacoor Component City Police Station for further processing.

Authorities are preparing charges against the suspect for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
