GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite — A suspect was arrested after agents intercepted two parcels containing suspected marijuana brownies and dried marijuana leaves during an interdiction operation in Barangay Gavino Maderan here on the night of July 16, 2026, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jonathan,” 32, a resident of Pasay City, was arrested around 7 p.m. in a joint operation by the PDEA Seaport Interdiction Unit-Batangas and the PDEA Regional Office 4A Special Enforcement Team 1.
Agents seized about 80 grams of suspected marijuana brownies worth an estimated 6,000 pesos and 60 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves worth an estimated 7,500 pesos from the two parcel boxes.
PDEA said the operation was part of its intensified campaign against the use of courier and parcel services to transport illegal drugs.
The suspect faces charges for violating Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA reiterated its call for the public to cooperate with authorities and immediately report any suspicious activity related to illegal drugs to help prevent it from spreading in communities.
