GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — A gunman on a motorcycle opened fire on a white Toyota Conquest stopped in heavy traffic outside Gate 5 of the Cavite Economic Zone on Antero Soriano Highway in Barangay Bacao 2 here shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2026.
Police said a 47-year-old contractor and a male companion were riding in the car when an armed suspect emerged from behind the vehicle and fired multiple shots from the right side using a handgun before fleeing on a parked motorcycle.
The vehicle’s driver got out and ran to escape the gunfire, while the contractor was hit in the shoulder, stomach, hand and other parts of the body, police said.
Despite his wounds, the victim was able to drive the vehicle to the economic zone area, where he was placed in a police ambulance and taken to Divine Grace Hospital. His condition was listed as stable.
Authorities are reviewing available security camera footage to trace the suspect’s route before and after the shooting. The gunman was described as wearing a black jacket and a violet helmet and riding an unidentified motorcycle.
