IMUS, Cavite, July 16, 2026 – The Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines is constructing a new eye center in Imus, Cavite, the second such facility built by its medical arm, the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation Philippines (TCMFP), the foundation said.
The foundation’s first eye center, in Sta. Mesa, Manila, opened in 2016 and now performs an estimated 200 to 400 cataract and other specialized eye surgeries a month, along with nearly 200 outpatient consultations, according to TCMFP.
The Imus facility will offer free eye screenings and sponsored surgeries for cataracts, retina conditions, glaucoma and squint to underserved patients from across the Philippines, the foundation said.
TCMFP also works with the GMA Kapuso Foundation on the Sight Saving Month Cataract Operations and the Operation Bukol Partnership Project, which provide free medical and surgical services to Filipinos in need.
Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines is the local branch of the Taiwan-based Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, which operates hospitals, schools and disaster-relief programs in more than 60 countries. Cataracts remain a leading cause of blindness in the Philippines, where access to specialized eye care is limited outside major urban centers.
