Bacoor inaugurates region’s first fisherfolk dormitory, breaks ground on catfish facility
BACOOR CITY, Cavite — The city government has inaugurated what it describes as the first fisherfolk dormitory in CALABARZON and broken ground on the region’s first government and fisherfolk-managed catfish grow-out facility, in a ceremony led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla on Wednesday.
The dormitory, located in Barangay Sinbanali, will serve as temporary housing for fishermen traveling from distant areas to work in local waters. Fishing equipment was also distributed to beneficiaries during the event.
Groundbreaking was simultaneously held for the catfish grow-out facility, which the city’s Office of Agricultural Services said aims to boost fish production and expand livelihood opportunities in the aquaculture sector.
Revilla was joined at the ceremony by Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla, Board Member Alde F. Pagulayan, Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region IV-A Director Sammy Malvas, Frabelle Fishing Corporation lawyer Paul Sanggalang, and Philippine Reclamation Authority lawyer Joseph Literal.
