Joy Barcoma of Bacoor City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2025 on Sunday during the national pageant’s coronation night at Okada Manila in Parañaque City, setting the stage for the Philippines’ bid for a fifth crown in the international environmental beauty competition.

Barcoma, who bested 35 other candidates, received the crown from outgoing titleholder Irha Mel Alfeche of Matanao, Davao del Sur. Alfeche competed in Miss Earth 2024, finishing in the top 12, behind titleholder Jessica Lane of Australia.

The 25th edition of Miss Philippines Earth was themed “The Silver Lining” and featured contestants from across the archipelago competing for the chance to represent the country in Miss Earth, one of the world’s major international beauty pageants focused on environmental advocacy.

Barcoma, a 26-year-old pageant veteran and 2018 graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ College of Communication, will now prepare to compete for the Philippines’ fifth Miss Earth crown. The country has previously won the international title four times: Karla Henry in 2008, Jamie Herrell in 2014, Angelia Ong in 2015, and Karen Ibasco in 2017.

The Philippines has established itself as a powerhouse in the Miss Earth competition, which emphasizes environmental awareness and conservation alongside traditional pageant elements. The international Miss Earth 2025 competition date has not yet been announced by organizers.

Completing the top five finalists were Maria Flordeliz Mabao of Antipolo (Miss Philippines Air), Angel Rose Tambal of La Paz, Leyte (Miss Philippines Water), Jaymie Strickland of Tallahassee, Florida (Miss Philippines Fire), and Kriezl Jane Torres of Takalag, Bukidnon (Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism).

Miss Earth, founded in 2001, is considered one of the “Big Four” international beauty pageants alongside Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International. The competition focuses on promoting environmental awareness and finding advocates for environmental protection and conservation.
