A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured after being stabbed by their trusted driver in a robbery in Naic, Cavite, on Thursday, authorities said.
Marlon and Charie Cantuba, a couple from Pampanga, were traveling to Naic to purchase frozen meat products when their driver, Jomar Domingo Tambo, allegedly attacked them, police said.
According to the police investigation, Tambo had offered to take the couple to a location where they could buy the products at a lower price. However, when they arrived in Naic, Tambo stopped the vehicle in a secluded area, where he allegedly stabbed Marlon multiple times.
Marlon, despite being seriously injured, managed to stand up and try to save his wife, but Tambo continued to attack Charie, who later died from her injuries.
The couple was rushed to a hospital, where Charie was pronounced dead. Marlon is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
“We are not after the money, we want justice,” said Jolo, a relative of the victims. “If anyone has information about the suspect, please come forward and help us bring him to justice.”
Jolo also expressed willingness to forgive Tambo if he surrenders and explains his actions. “Maybe he was driven by personal needs, but we can talk about this. We are willing to forgive him, we just want to know what happened,” Jolo said.
The police are urging anyone with information about Tambo’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
