In a concerted effort to bolster the fight against human trafficking and violence, over 60 professionals, including members of the Cavite Provincial Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC) and social workers from various municipalities, convened at The Bayleaf Hotel in General Trias City on March 13, 2024.

The Provincial Government of Cavite, spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, hosted this capability building workshop to arm stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and tactics to address these critical issues plaguing vulnerable groups within the province.

The event commenced with Mr. Alvin S. Mojica, Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, highlighting the Omnibus Guidelines for the Protection of Children Against Violence, particularly focusing on the prevention of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). He called for a unified approach among all Local Government Units to protect the youth.

Ms. Marife V. Bautista, representing the Chairperson of the SP Committee on Women, Family, Children, Elderly and Social Services, BM Romel R. Enriquez, delivered a stirring call to action, emphasizing unity and persistent support in eradicating trafficking and violence.

Expert speakers, including Atty. Mary Marjorie P. Martin-Chan of the National Prosecution Development and International Justice Mission, delved into topics such as the intricacies of OSAEC, its legal framework, and the adaptation of laws at the local level. Mr. Teodulo R. Romo, Jr., the former Assistant Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, highlighted the challenges in aiding OSAEC victims and underscored the importance of a strong support network.

An open forum allowed for dynamic discussions and strategy development, capped by a post-test to evaluate the participants’ comprehension of the material presented.

Concluding the event, Ms. Precyl T. Ramos thanked the attendees for their commitment and reiterated the Provincial Government of Cavite’s dedication to relentlessly pursuing initiatives against trafficking and violence.
