MANILA — Meralco has increased its overall electricity rate for April 2026 to P14.35 per kilowatt-hour, a rise of 53 centavos from the previous month, the power distributor announced.
For a typical household consuming 200 kilowatt-hours per month, the increase translates to approximately P107 more on the April bill compared to March.
Meralco attributed the higher rate to increased generation charges. The company said its distribution charge remained unchanged.
The April rate applies to bills dated April 9 to April 28, 2026.
Meralco noted that the actual change in a customer’s bill depends on both the electricity rate applicable to their consumption level and the total amount of power consumed during the billing period.
