Cavite Representative Kiko Barzaga surrendered to authorities on the evening of Monday, April 13, 2026 following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) for cyber libel.
The court set bail at P48,000 for the lawmaker’s temporary liberty. Barzaga turned himself in to face the charge, which stems from an alleged online statement that violated the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Authorities from the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO4A) confirmed the surrender in a brief statement, noting that standard booking procedures are underway. No further details on the nature of the alleged libelous post were immediately released.
The case adds to the legal challenges faced by the congressman, who has yet to issue a formal statement as of posting time.
