BACOOR, Cavite — The city government of Bacoor met Monday with officials from the Department of Transportation’s Light Rail Transit Project Implementation Unit to discuss the relocation of informal settler families and other infrastructure matters related to the LRT-1 South Extension Project.

The coordination meeting, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, focused on the relocation of 32 informal settler families affected by property acquisition along the project’s 10-meter right-of-way, identified as Light Rail Transit Authority-acquired property.

Representatives from the City Engineering Office, the City Administrator’s Office and the Housing Urban Development and Resettlement Department also attended.

According to the city government, initial relocation activities have already been conducted. A first general assembly and document collection took place March 19 at the Zapote III Barangay Hall, followed by a census survey and on-site document collection on March 26.

Other agenda items included the relocation status of Maynilad Water Services and PT&T facilities, the issuance of certificates of compliance for demolition and eviction, and updates on right-of-way clearing and demolition works.

The relocation is part of Package 3 of the LRT-1 South Extension Project and covers social preparation, pre-relocation screening, site assignments, documentation, and eventual turnover of housing units.

The meeting highlighted continued coordination between the Bacoor city government and national agencies to ensure smooth implementation of major infrastructure projects while addressing the welfare of affected residents.
