The municipal government of Rosario will honor two employees who returned a lost wallet containing P50,000 pesos to a local fruit vendor, a municipal official said on Tuesday.
Armando L. De Guia Jr. and Ma. Teresa P. Arbonida, clerks at the Municipal Local Civil Registrar Office, found the unattended wallet on a chair on Monday, said public information officer Sid Samaniego.
After checking the wallet for identification, they coordinated with local authorities to locate its owner, Quenie May Ferrer.
Ferrer, who had saved the money to buy inventory for her fruit vending business, broke down in tears upon its return, Samaniego said. She offered a reward to the pair, but they declined and urged her to invest the money back into her livelihood.
The Rosario local government unit said it will present De Guia and Arbonida with certificates of honesty at its next weekly assembly, citing their act as a model of integrity for public servants.
