BARANGAY APLAYA — The recent implementation of a curfew in Barangay Aplaya has received mixed reactions from netizens, following reports of minors being reprimanded by local officials for violating the ordinance.

In a Facebook post, Barangay Councilor Rigor Villanueva addressed public concerns after some parents expressed disappointment over their children being stopped by barangay tanods during curfew hours. Villanueva emphasized that the curfew is in place to protect minors from potential dangers, especially during late-night hours.

“Get mad if you must, but we are doing everything we can to protect your children,” Villanueva wrote. He stressed that the barangay leadership is impartial in enforcing the ordinance. “If you can’t discipline your children, we in the barangay will act on it,” he added.

Barangay Captain Romel Valenton also weighed in, reminding residents that protecting constituents is part of their sworn duty. He encouraged those with concerns to visit the barangay hall in person, where officials can properly explain the rules and address their questions.

Curfews are in effect in many areas across the Philippines, typically starting at 10 p.m., as part of local ordinances aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of young people.
