Athena Tolentino Sworn in as Cavite Governor

Tagaytay City – Athena Bryana D. Tolentino was sworn in as the new Governor of Cavite on October 8, 2024, in a ceremony held at the Hall of Justice in the Legislative Building.

Judge Racquel V. Aspiras-Sanchez administered the oath of office to Tolentino, who was accompanied by Vice Governor Shernan S. Jaro.

Tolentino, 25, becomes the first female Governor of Cavite and the youngest to hold the position.

She succeeds former Governor Jonvic C. Remulla, who was appointed Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

In her inaugural address, Tolentino pledged to continue the initiatives launched by her predecessor and to serve with compassion, determination, and effective leadership.

She vowed to work towards a progressive and brighter future for the province.

Tolentino was joined by her family, including Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham Tolentino, Vice Mayor Agnes Tolentino, and 8th District representative Aniela Bianca Tolentino, as well as fellow public servants and supporters.

The ceremony marked a new chapter in the province’s history, with Tolentino’s appointment seen as a new milestone in the province’s efforts to promote youth and women’s participation in politics.
