Trece Martires City, Cavite – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday destroyed over P777 million pesos worth of seized illegal drugs in a ceremony held in Cavite province.

A total of 1,474,916.7594 grams of solid illicit substances and 378.5 milliliters of liquid narcotics were incinerated through thermal decomposition at the Integrated Waste Management facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City.

The destroyed substances included 66,720.7640 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), 1,390,743.5422 grams of marijuana, 14,145.4798 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), and smaller quantities of cocaine, ephedrine, psilocin, and other substances.

The incineration process involved exposing the seized substances to high temperatures of over 1,000 degrees centigrade, rendering them impossible to reconstitute.

The destroyed substances were seized during various anti-drug operations conducted by PDEA and other law enforcement agencies, but were no longer needed as evidence in court.

Representatives from the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, local officials, and non-government organizations witnessed the destruction ceremony, which was held in compliance with the proper disposal of seized drug evidence as required by law.
