In a significant victory for Philippine law enforcement, a joint operation has led to the seizure of drugs worth P13.3 billion pesos, marking a historic milestone in the country’s fight against illegal narcotics.

The operation, which took place in Brgy Pinagkrusan, Alitagtag, Batangas, resulted in the arrest of an individual known only as “AL”. The suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led checkpoint operation conducted by the Alitagtag Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of Police Captain Luis Q De Luna Jr.

The seized drugs, weighing approximately two tons, tested positive for Methamphetamine Hydrochloride in an initial screening by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). This underscores the magnitude of the operation and its potential impact on disrupting illegal drug networks.

Secretary of the Interior and Local Government, Attorney Benjamin C. Abalos Jr., praised the swift and decisive actions of the law enforcement officers involved.

He highlighted the collaborative efforts of various government agencies and conveyed President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.’s commendation for the achievement. In recognition of their bravery and dedication to duty, Attorney Abalos announced the meritorious spot promotion of PCPT de Luna Jr. and all other personnel involved.

Echoing these sentiments, Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the Philippine National Police, reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to achieving 100% drug-free communities.

He stated, “Our achievements against illegal drug activities are a testament to the effectiveness of our anti-illegal drugs operations. We remain resolute in our determination to rid our community of the scourge of illegal drugs, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperative in this fight.”

The apprehended suspect is currently under police custody and will face charges under Section 5, Article II of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
