GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — A businesswoman was hospitalized after being shot twice in the chest and abdomen by three men, one of whom posed as a Lalamove delivery rider, police said.
The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Tejero, General Trias City.
Police identified the victim only by the alias “Holie,” 37, a resident of Dream Homes Subdivision in Barangay Tejero who ran a lending business.
According to police investigators, the victim was at home when a motorcycle displaying a Lalamove delivery box arrived.
The rider told her he had a parcel for delivery. As she stepped out to receive it, a second motorcycle carrying two men pulled up and opened fire, police said.
The victim collapsed after being shot twice. The suspects fled the scene.
Investigators said the shooting may be linked to an unpaid debt of about 1 million pesos.
According to a friend of the victim, a woman identified by the alias “Lenie” had borrowed the amount from the victim and had since left her residence in Trece Martires without settling the debt.
The victim reportedly told acquaintances she planned to file a case over the unpaid loan.
Police said they identified the suspects and the two motorcycles used in the attack with the help of closed-circuit television footage and witnesses in the area.
General Trias police said they expect to resolve the case soon.
