BACOOR CITY FLOODING PERSISTS DESPITE OVER P1 BILLION IN FLOOD CONTROL SPENDING
BACOOR, Cavite — Residents of Bacoor City, governed by the Revilla political family, continue to face recurring flooding during heavy rains despite official records showing that more than P1 billion in public funds has been allocated and spent on flood control projects, according to local government documents.
City residents said flooding remains a persistent problem during the southwest monsoon and typhoon season, with roads and homes submerged despite the reported infrastructure spending.
They said the situation raises questions about the effectiveness and implementation of the funded projects.
Affected residents said the recurring flooding damages property and poses health risks, adding that distribution of relief goods during flooding incidents addresses only immediate needs and does not resolve the underlying drainage problems.
Caviteños called for greater accountability and transparency in the use of flood control funds, saying the public deserves a permanent solution rather than repeated emergency assistance.
Local officials have not issued a public accounting of how the flood control funds were spent or which specific projects were completed, residents said, adding that they intend to press city authorities for an explanation.
The Bacoor city government has yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
