CAVITE — Police operatives seized counterfeit vaping products and unauthorized liquefied petroleum gas cylinders valued at more than 3.1 million pesos in separate enforcement operations across Cavite province, authorities said.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Cavite Provincial Field Unit led both operations targeting products in violation of existing consumer protection and trade laws.
In the first operation, CIDG Cavite agents and Department of Trade and Industry representatives raided an establishment in Barangay Pasong Camachile 1, General Trias City, after serving a search warrant for alleged violations of Republic Act 11900, the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act.
Agents confiscated an assortment of vape products, including boxed vapor devices and disposable vapes, with an estimated street value of P1.997 million pesos. Authorities said the items lacked DTI permits and required health warnings, and failed to meet mandated product standards.
In a separate operation in Barangay Paliparan I, Dasmariñas City, operatives conducted an entrapment against a suspect allegedly engaged in the unauthorized transport and sale of LPG cylinders. The suspect was caught in the act of transacting empty LPG tanks bearing the trademarks of legitimate companies without authorization from the brand owners.
Ninety empty LPG cylinders valued at an estimated P200,000 pesos were seized. The suspect faces charges under Republic Act 623, as amended by Republic Act 5700, which prohibits the unauthorized use, possession, and sale of marked containers such as LPG cylinders.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operations are part of an intensified campaign against contraband and illegal trade.
“We will not tolerate illegal activities. The PNP will continue to fulfill our duty for the benefit of the public,” Nartatez said.
