TANZA, Cavite — A bomb threat sent through Facebook against a public elementary school prompted an immediate security response Saturday night, with authorities deploying explosive detection dogs and cybercrime investigators after finding no devices on the premises.

The Tanza Municipal Police Station received a call at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday from a resident identified as Marquez, who reported that the official Facebook account of Barangay Paradahan I had received a message from a user going by the name “Dennis Scotland.”

The message claimed a time bomb had been planted inside Paradahan Elementary School, with detonation times set for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, June 15.

Authorities responded with an ocular assessment of the school, interviews with the reporting party, a bomb sweep using the Explosive Ordnance Disposal K-9 unit, and the deployment of police personnel inside and around the campus.

The Anti-Cybercrime Group was also notified to assist in identifying the account holder.

Investigators said the same Facebook account had posted similar bomb threats in multiple Facebook groups before blocking the barangay’s account.

As of Sunday morning, no explosive device had been found inside or around the school. Inspections were ongoing.

Police said anyone found responsible for the threat faces criminal charges. Under Philippine law, issuing a bomb threat — even a false one — is a serious offense punishable by imprisonment and fines.
