GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite — A new access road near Gate 4 of the Cavite Economic Zone has been opened to light vehicles as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at easing traffic congestion in the area, authorities said.
The road was opened in coordination between the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the local government of General Trias, with officials saying the new route was intended to speed up the entry and exit of vehicles, particularly during peak hours when employees and cargo trucks converge on the zone.
Sidewalk improvement works and upgrades to adjacent roads were also underway alongside the opening of the new access, officials said.
The Cavite Economic Zone, located in General Trias, is one of the major PEZA-administered industrial zones in Southern Luzon, hosting hundreds of locator companies and employing tens of thousands of workers from Cavite and neighboring provinces. Traffic congestion around its gates has long been a concern for workers, businesses, and local residents.
Officials said the infrastructure initiatives were part of a broader effort to make the economic zone more efficient and accessible, and to support the continued growth of business and industry in the region.
