SILANG, Cavite — A 47-year-old businessman was fatally shot early Sunday in an attack that has left this quiet community shaken, police said.
The victim, identified only by the alias Martin, was killed around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Daang Batas street in Barangay Kalubkob, according to the Silang Municipal Police Station.
A witness who gave the alias Analyna told investigators she heard multiple gunshots outside her home. When she looked outside, she found the victim lying on the ground, bloodied and unconscious.
Martin was rushed to a private hospital but was pronounced dead by Dr. Ryan Jacob G. Agdon.
Neighbors described the victim as a quiet, hardworking businessman. Many residents expressed fear and sadness over the violence.
The Silang police are investigating the shooting. Authorities are examining possible motives, including personal disputes and business-related issues.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the nearest police station.
The suspect remained unidentified as of early Monday.
