ROSARIO, Cavite — A fraternity chapter marked National Heroes Day on Sunday by distributing free gasoline to tricycle drivers in this town.
About 100 tricycle drivers each received two liters of fuel from the Tau Gamma Phi Rosario Municipal Grand Council as part of its community outreach program.
Fraternity chairman Vryce Velasquez said the initiative was meant to recognize the daily sacrifices of tricycle drivers, whom he described as modern-day heroes.
“We feel the hardship and exhaustion that tricycle drivers go through every day just to provide for their families. Thank you for all your service,” Velasquez said.

Christian Buhain, president of Silangan TODA, said the donation was a big help to drivers struggling with high fuel costs.
“Two liters of fuel means a full day of service for us. Thank you for treating us as modern-day heroes of the nation,” Buhain said.
The fraternity said it plans to continue similar projects to benefit local communities.
