Leadership Training Empowers Disability Organizations, Parent Support Groups in Cavite

The Office of the Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Officer collaborated with the Office of the Provincial Cooperatives Development Officer – Livelihood Division to organize a Leadership Training for Registered Disability Organizations and Parents Support Groups on May 16-17, 2024.

The event, held at the Cavite Collaboration Center for Public Health Auditorium in Trece Martires City, Cavite, brought together 71 participants representing various organizations. These groups serve as partners in implementing disability programs at the community level, aiming to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Among the organizations represented were the Persons with Disability Federation of Tanza, Federation – PWD Mendez, City of Imus Down Syndrome Society (CIDSS), Silangueños Persons with Disability Federation, Inc. (SPWDFI), Persons with Disability Organization Carmona, Cavite Inc. (PDOCCI), Social Enhancement Nurturing Program for Youth and Adult Deaf Society in Carmona, Inc. (SENYASCCI), Buhay Autismo, Inc., Kilusan Kabalikat ng may Kapansanan Para sa Kinabukasan, Inc. (4K), Down Syndrome Parents Support Group Carmona, Cavite, Inc. (DSYNPESO), and City Federation of Persons with Disability Inc. – Dasmariñas (CFPDI).

Mr. Alvin S. Mojica, Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, delivered welcome remarks, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the PWD sector.

The training focused on developing leadership skills and fostering cooperation among disability organizations and parent support groups. Participants engaged in exercises and discussions aimed at empowering their communities through effective leadership and support.

Ms. Sheryl Loyola, the keynote speaker, led insightful discussions on Leadership and Project Management. Workshops emphasized collaboration, allowing participants to share their outputs and insights gained during the two-day training.
