“I was puzzled by the sound coming from inside the washing machine. At first, I thought it was just loose change. But when I stopped the machine to investigate, I was surprised by what I found: a gold necklace and ring,” recounted Apple.
Apple, whose real name is Julie Joy Ramirez, is a 38-year-old laundry attendant who has worked at Len’s Laundry Hub for 9 months. She resides in Brgy. Poblacion, Rosario, Cavite. The laundry shop is owned by Marlyn and Bryan de Leon.
Before joining Len’s Laundry Hub, Apple had worked in a similar job for over ten years at another laundry shop.
On that particular day, Apple was busy folding clothes while listening to romantic music. Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a washing machine that seemed to have something spinning inside it.
To her surprise, she discovered a gold necklace and ring.
Since the clothes had a name on the receipt, she knew who they belonged to. She set them aside and waited for the owner to collect their laundry.
The true owner of the gold necklace and ring turned out to be Jeff Obviar from Brgy. Bagbag-II.
When Jeff retrieved his laundered clothes, he was unaware that the jewelry had accidentally ended up in his shorts. Grateful for Apple’s honesty, he thanked her for returning it.
The owners of the laundry shop, Marlyn and Bryan, were pleased with Apple’s integrity.
The necklace weighed 2.2 grams, and the ring weighed 1.4 grams, both made of 18-karat gold.
