In a remarkable act of honesty, a pedicab driver in Rosario, Cavite, returned a lost wallet containing 13,000 pesos to its rightful owner.

Carl Jay “CJ” Montalban, 22, found the wallet at his usual spot in Sunrise Subd, Brgy. Bagbag II, on May 7, 2024.

The wallet belonged to Michaela Relox, a second-year tourism student at the Asian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT), who had saved the money for a school tour in Ilocos.

Unaware that she had lost her wallet, she expressed immense gratitude to CJ for his honesty.

CJ, who also fishes to support his wife and two children, has been renting a pedicab for four years. His dream is to own his own pedicab, a goal he hopes to achieve by his birthday on July 6, 2024.

This incident has earned CJ praise from local officials in Brgy. Bagbag-II, marking the second time a pedicab driver from the area has returned a significant sum of money.
