The first provincial roadshow of the CALABARZON Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 was launched in Cavite on 23 April 2024.

The event, held at the International Convention Center of Cavite State University (CvSU) – Indang Campus, was a collaborative effort between the National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office IV-A, the Provincial Government of Cavite, and CvSU.

The roadshow aimed to enhance public awareness and encourage participation in regional and provincial development plans.

The CALABARZON RDP 2023-2028, which aligns with the Philippine Development Plan, serves as the region’s development blueprint until 2028. Revy Ann Grace Jolongbayan, OIC Chief Economic Development Specialist at NEDA IV-A, described the RDP as a six-year investment programming document outlining the region’s priority programs and projects.

Cavite’s Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) evaluates the socio-economic performance of key sectors and identifies targets, strategies, and legislative agendas for economic and social transformation. This aims to create a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient region and province.

Governor Jonvic Remulla highlighted Cavite’s rapid development, vibrant economy, and strategic location. He stressed that the province’s success is not solely due to its geography, but also its people.

He referred to the integration of individuals from different parts of the country as a “high breed vigor” that drives the province’s development.

The governor also outlined current and upcoming projects aimed at boosting the province’s economy, including major road infrastructures, improved education, and other innovations.

NEDA Regional Director Agnes Tolentino emphasized that the RDP is a collective effort, not just NEDA’s plan. She urged participants to ensure the implementation of programs and strategies to realize the shared vision for progress.

The event also featured a talk show that sparked ideas and recommendations from participants and panelists, including Board Members Shernan Jaro and Irene Bencito, Engr. Lorna Leyran from the PGC, Ms. Agnes Nuestro and Engr. Orlando Delos Reyes from CvSU, Ternate Mayor Bambao, and RD Agnes Tolentino for NEDA IV-A. Topics discussed ranged from agriculture and food security to education and employment.
