Bacoor, Cavite Adopts 4-Day Workweek

In a bold move to combat climate change and prioritize employee welfare, the City Government of Bacoor, Cavite, has announced a new 4-day compressed workweek for select departments, effective from Monday, April 22, 2024.

The innovative initiative, outlined in Executive Order No. 92-2024, will see several departments operating from 8am to 7pm, Monday through Thursday. This strategic shift in working hours is not only a response to the environmental challenges of our time but also a measure to conserve resources during the height of the summer season.

However, it’s business as usual for departments providing essential services. The Bacoor Traffic Management Department, Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Office of the City Health Services, and City Social Welfare and Development Office will continue to follow their regular work schedules, ensuring that critical services remain unaffected.

This development marks a significant step in Bacoor’s commitment to sustainable practices and employee well-being, setting a precedent for other cities to potentially follow.

As the world grapples with the realities of climate change, such measures could be a glimpse into the future of urban administration.
