CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Several barangays and individuals from Cavite were recognized in various categories at the recent DILG IV-A CALABARZON JUAN Awards 2026, held Tuesday at Hotel Marciano in Calamba City, Laguna.

The awards, formally known as the Gawad Parangal para sa mga Natatanging Barangay 2026, recognize barangays for good governance, cleanliness, security and the promotion of peace in their communities.

Barangay Malagasang 1-G in Imus City was named second runner-up in the 2026 Trailblazers for Outstanding Performance of Barangay Tanods, Group Category — an award recognizing barangay tanod units for their dedication to maintaining security, fighting crime and illegal drugs, and preserving peace in their jurisdictions.

In the individual category, Gilrex P. Biolanda of Barangay San Francisco in General Trias City was named regional champion.

Cavite also placed in the KALINISAN Program Awards, with Barangay A. Dalusag in General Emilio Aguinaldo and Barangay Lallana in Trece Martires City among the barangays recognized for environmental cleanliness, waste management and ecological sustainability.

The province was also represented among the 2026 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards regional winners, which recognize barangays for strong operational performance and innovative approaches to implementing the Katarungang Pambarangay dispute resolution system. Barangay San Agustin in Magallanes was named regional winner in the 3rd Class Municipality category, while Barangay Pangil in Amadeo was recognized as 2nd Income Class Qualifier.

Cavite’s showing spanned categories from cleanliness and environmental protection to security and dispute resolution.

For Barangay Malagasang 1-G, officials said the second runner-up award reflected not only the efforts of its barangay tanods but also continued support from the Imus city government and City Local Government Operations Officer Mary Roxanne Vicedo. The barangay credited its tanods with helping maintain order and safety in the community.

Officials said the province’s showing at the regional level reflects its barangays’ commitment to public service, responsible governance and active participation in community development.
