Philippine Police Officer Honored as Top Woman in Law Enforcement

PSSg Aidalyn Bustamante Barrido, Ph.D., a distinguished officer from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), has been recognised as one of the top 10 Outstanding Women in Law Enforcement and National Security (OWLENS) 2024 by the Republic Defenders.

Barrido, a licensed criminologist and a scholar of the nation, has made significant contributions to the field of law enforcement. She has served in various capacities within the NCRPO, QCPD, MPD, and NPTI, and is currently affiliated with the PNPA.

She has co-authored key publications such as the PNPTI Shooter’s Guide and the Physical Fitness Development Guide. Barrido has also played a crucial role in the initiation stage of the Performance Governance System (PGS), a significant step in the system.

Her work with the PNP includes validation and investigations for the NPTI Training Center. As a member of PS-9 Anonas, QCPD’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU), she was involved in the arrest and surrender of numerous individuals during the 2016–2020 PNP Oplan Double Barrel operation.

Barrido, along with her colleagues in the Regional Operations Division (ROD) NCRPO, successfully managed security during Pope Francis’ 2015 visit to the Philippines.

As a member of the PNP Content Creators and the Philippine Vloggers Association, Barrido uses social media platforms like Facebook to promote the positive deeds of the PNP and educate the public about the organisation’s objectives.

Her passion for writing is evident in her contributions to the “Pulis@UrSerbis” periodicals, which are distributed nationwide across all PNP offices. Her writing skills have been honed through training and experience.

Barrido has also been invited as a PNP reporter for Radyo La Verdad 1350 kHz, Radyo Agila DZEC Manila, and UNTV Pulis@UrSerbis DWIZ, which broadcast live on TV Aliw 23 and their respective Facebook and YouTube accounts.

As a speaker, she has shared her expertise at various institutions, including the DILG, the Bureau of Corrections, the PNPA, the National Forensic Science Training Institute (NFSTI), the National Police Training Institute (NPTI), the PNPTS, the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR), the PLMun Graduate School, and the St. Benilde La Salle International School. She is a regular speaker at US-DOJ ICITAP Philippines training sessions.

In 2021 and 2022, she was recognised as a distinguished faculty member at NFSTI, Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC). Her alma mater also honoured her as an Alumni Achiever for her community service.

Barrido’s beauty pageant victories include Ms. QCPD Ganda Pulis 2018 “Darling of the Crowd”, Ms. PCCR Employee Idol 2024 1st Runner Up, and “Best Muse”. She will represent Sta. Rosa in the Mrs. Laguna Philippines 2024 Coronation Night.

Barrido’s accomplishments serve as an inspiration for many. She has promoted the “Women in Action Advocacy” in Metro Manila and Laguna through various community extension initiatives. She has generously donated health kits, school supplies, food, and other commodities to schools, Barangay Health Centers, churches, seniors’ homes, municipal prisons, and other impoverished areas in collaboration with other government and non-government entities. She has adopted the Calauan, Laguna Center for Crisis Women and Children, a centre for victims of rape and domestic violence. Her overwhelming joy comes from helping others, and she prays for the success of her future service projects.
