ROSARIO, Cavite — A retired U.S. Army veteran distributed rice to residents in Rosario town, Cavite, continuing his annual tradition of giving back to the community.

Peter Flores, a 20-year U.S. Army veteran who now resides in the Philippines, personally delivered three kilograms of rice to each individual using his van.

The 55-year-old spent the day driving around the town to reach as many people as possible.

Flores, who chose to live in the Philippines over the U.S. after his retirement, said he wanted to share his blessings with the community.

“I just want to help in my own simple way,” he said. “I want to assist vendors, drivers, garbage collectors, street sweepers, traffic enforcers, and many others.”

Flores’ act of kindness is inspired by the Bible verse Acts 20:35, which says, “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”

This is not the first time Flores has distributed rice to the community. He has been doing it three times a year since 2022. In addition to rice, he also donates school supplies annually.

Flores’ selfless act has earned him recognition as a Good Samaritan in the country.
