Cavite’s Solo Parent Day: A Beacon of Support and Unity

In a show of solidarity and support, the Provincial Government of Cavite, under the stewardship of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), orchestrated the Provincial Solo Parent Day Celebration on 20th April 2024.

The event, held at the Municipal Covered Court in Naic, Cavite, saw a gathering of solo parent employees of the Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) and heads of Solo Parent associations from various cities and municipalities.

The event, themed “Solo Parent na Rehistrado sa Gobyerno Tiyak na Protektado”, highlighted the significance of acknowledging and protecting the rights of solo parents within the community.

A plethora of services were made available to all solo parent members and participants, including free haircuts, legal consultations, vocational training opportunities, job placement assistance, agricultural support, and Wellness and Health services, such as complimentary pills and iron with folic acid.

Distinguished guests, including Irene Bencito, the 8th district Board Member, and Analie Rodil, the President of PGC’s United Solo Parents Association (USPA), shared their personal experiences and challenges as solo parents, providing inspiration and empowerment to those present.

A warm reception was extended by Catherine Ilagan of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Naic, and Provincial Federation President Karen Bagtas, fostering a sense of unity and support among participants.

Motivational messages were delivered by Precyl T. Ramos, Officer-in-Charge of OPSWDO, while representatives such as Beverly Alvaran for 6th District Board Member Maurito Sison, and Maribeth Bautista for Board Member Rommel Enriquez, reiterated their dedication to the cause.

The event was further enlivened by a raffle draw, with winners from different local government units receiving their prizes amidst much excitement. The event also showcased the diverse talents of solo parent members from various local government units through intermission dances and songs.

Ekeiko Paola Haidah Sadang, Division Head of Promotive Services, concluded the event with poignant remarks, emphasizing the importance of ongoing support and assistance for solo parents.

The Provincial Solo Parent Day Celebration in Naic, Cavite, stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Provincial Government of Cavite to empower and uplift solo parents, providing them with the necessary resources and support for a brighter future.
