A coalition of bus drivers and operators has lodged a formal complaint against Cupido Gerry Asuncion, the director of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Calabarzon, alleging extortion.
The complaint, submitted to the Office of the President on March 7, claims that Asuncion demanded PHP50,000 for discussions and a monthly PHP25,000 for the non-apprehension of buses.
The signatories, representing various transport groups from Cavite, assert that non-compliance led to fabricated violations by LTO enforcers. Cavite News’s attempt to contact Asuncion was unsuccessful.
The complainants have urged President Marcos for prompt intervention to address the hardships faced by bus operators and drivers.
