BACOOR, Cavite — Police officers who took part in a shootout with a suspected robbery gang in Bacoor City were given an on-the-spot commendation Wednesday.
Police Regional Office 4A Director Brig. Gen. Dominic Baccay personally presented the awards to personnel of the Bacoor City Police Station for their bravery, readiness and dedication in an operation against seven armed suspects.
The awarding was held in line with the Philippine National Police’s Focused Agenda under Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., particularly its Morale and Welfare program, and the B.E.S.T. Policing Framework of PRO-4A, which emphasizes quick action, teamwork and public trust.
Police said officers clashed Tuesday with seven suspected members of the Gapos Gang, a group blamed for holdups at large establishments and subdivisions across the Calabarzon region.
Five suspects were killed in the shootout, including a police officer who had gone absent without leave.
