Police arrested a suspected drug dealer in an anti-narcotics operation in Kawit, Cavite on Thursday evening, authorities said.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jong”, was apprehended around 5:50 pm in Barangay Congbalay Legaspi after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected methamphetamine to an undercover operative, Lieutenant Colonel Kristine V. Paras, officer-in-charge of Kawit Municipal Police Station, said.
Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted the buy-bust operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4-A.
The suspect, a resident of Barangay Congbalay Legaspi, will be charged with violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, the anti-drugs law covering sale and possession of illegal narcotics.
The arrest forms part of the Philippine National Police’s seven-point agenda focusing on illegal drugs, loose firearms and terrorism, Paras said.
