Cavite, Philippines, June 29 – A suspected drug dealer was arrested Friday in an anti-narcotics operation in Kawit, Cavite province, police said Saturday.
The suspect, identified only as “Toto,” was apprehended during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Toclong at around 7:40 am (2340 GMT Thursday), according to a statement from the Kawit Municipal Police Station.
Authorities said the suspect, a resident of Imus City, was caught selling a small plastic sachet containing what is believed to be methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu.”
The operation was conducted by the local police’s Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Richard D. Corpuz said the arrest was part of the station’s “intensified campaign against all forms of criminality” in Kawit.
The suspect faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
Authorities warned the public to refrain from engaging in illegal drug activities, vowing to continue their efforts against crime in the region.
