DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite — The owner of a private school was found dead with severe burns inside her office after fire swept through the school in Barangay Sta. Cruz 1 here.
The victim, identified only by the alias Violeta, was 70 to 79 years old, married, and owner of Brentwood Academy of Dasmariñas Inc., a Christian school in the area.
According to initial reports, the fire broke out around 8:32 p.m. and was first noticed in one of the school’s classrooms.
The fire spread quickly through the building as firefighters battled the blaze. It was declared under control at around 9:13 p.m.
But as fire crews conducted a clearing operation, authorities made a grim discovery.
At around 9:44 p.m., they found the victim’s body inside the school’s administration office, where she was reportedly resting or sleeping at the time.
She could not be rescued and suffered extensive burns.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating to determine the cause of the fire and whether other factors contributed to its rapid spread. The investigation is ongoing.
