DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite — A 15-year-old Grade 8 student was wounded after being stabbed by a fellow minor student inside a public school here Monday, authorities said.
The school was not named to protect the safety of teachers and students.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Glen,” is a Grade 8 transferee and resident of Barangay Sampaloc 4. The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ranz,” is a 14-year-old Grade 8 transferee.
Investigators said the dispute between the two began July 9, 2026 but was not resolved. The two encountered each other again during breaktime around 2:15 p.m. Monday.
According to reports, the victim approached the suspect, who suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the back.
Classmates responded immediately to break up the incident and alert teachers.
The victim was rushed to Dasmariñas District Hospital, where he was treated and is now in stable condition, authorities said.
Because the suspect is a minor, he is being treated as a Child at Risk and will undergo an intervention program with the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
Police are continuing their investigation, including interviews with witnesses, to determine the full details and motive behind the incident.
Authorities reminded parents and schools to promptly address conflicts between students to prevent them from escalating into violence.
